George R. Christmas
George Ronald Christmas (born March 11, 1940)〔Marquis Who's Who on the Web〕 is a retired United States Marine Corps lieutenant general. Christmas was awarded the Navy Cross and Purple Heart for his valor in 1968 during the Vietnam War. He served on active duty in the Marine Corps for 34 years, retiring in 1996.〔 He served as President and CEO of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
==Early years and education==
General Christmas was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962. He earned a Master of Science degree from Shippensburg University in 1982.
